EDC Vegas ProTip #71 Tell Your Bank and Credit Card Companies

This one is short and simple. Look at the back of your debit card and credit cards the week before you get on the plane to Las Vegas and call the 1-800 number on each and every one of them and tell them you’ll be traveling.

Why? So they don’t suspend or cancel your card due to possible fraud. Las Vegas is a big city where a lot of that happens and sudden charges in a city across the continent should throw up a red flag in the computer systems

What happens if you don’t call them?

Nothing, life goes on, use your cards as you please.

Or they try and call you to see if you’re really in Las Vegas, you answer, you say yes, party on! If they can’t reach you though or there’s an old phone number on your account they’ll suspend your card and you won’t find out until you try and use it.

Pick up the phone, call the 1-800 number, find your way through to an operator and just tell them the dates you’ll be flying to Vegas and the date you’ll be landing back home. They’ll put a flag in the system and if sudden chargers appear after you’re already home it’ll throw up an immediate red flag of possible fraud.

A lot of us travel with little cash, don’t suddenly get trapped with a frozen account!
