EDC Vegas ProTip #57 Energy Gels, Granola, Protein and Meal Replacement Bars

Today’s protip is about having a stock of things that are easy to digest and will give you energy on the go without having to find a restaurant or fast food joint. It could also be that you just aren’t in the mood for food for whatever reason but you still need to give your body fuel to keep going. Don’t expect to bring these things into the actual festival but they’re great for the rest of the time you’ll be in Las Vegas.

Granola, protein and meal replacement bars are a no brainer. They’re simple, easy to eat and can easily be packed into a suit case so you don’t have to worry as much about trying to get to a real store. If you’ve never been to Vegas before you’ll quickly realize you’ll be on the move more than you think and finding food could be the last thing on your list. These are a great option when you get back to your hotel room or even before you leave.

As a runner, another thing I can suggest is energy gels. They’re easy to digest and great for on the go. Here’s more on energy gels:

Energy gels provide a fast-acting, easy-to-digest source of carbohydrate when you are literally on the move. A mix of simple and complex carbohydrates and water, gels provide more energy (calories) per ounce than sports drinks and they are easier to digest than solid food. Consumed every 30 to 45 minutes during longer training sessions and races stretching past 60 minutes, gels help to delay muscular fatigue, raise your blood sugar level and enhance performance. In fact, runners often report feeling a psychological boost in as quickly as five minutes after consuming gel, thereby making physical undertakings seem easier.

You can also stockpile on energy drinks and energy shots but they won’t give you the added and needed nutrition these things above can. Electric Daisy Carnival isn’t your typical one night rave, it’s more like a three day marathon. Be prepared!

Where can you get these things? Meal replacement, granola and protein bars can be found at Wal-Mart or just about any grocery store. The easiest place to find energy gel’s is your local Dick’s Sporting Goods store or any running store.

There’s A LOT of other options but these are just easy and simple suggestions. You could also eat three meals a day including all your fruits and vegetables but what fun is that?
