EDC Vegas ProTip #55 Four Reasons to Rent a Locker

This may be something that really hasn’t crossed your mind but I found great benefits in renting a locker at Electric Daisy Carnival 2012 and will do so again this year. They’re only $50 for three nights and offer some great benefits.

The three day access lockers are no longer available but as long as the single day lockers are available you can rent all three at once on an order and you will get the same locker each day.

Updated: Click here to reserve one for EDC Las Vegas 2014 and currently at $75

The standard locker is 18″ deep and 12″ high which will give you plenty of room to store your things while you’re off partying.

Assuming you rent the locker ahead of time you’ll just need to visit the area where the lockers are located and they’ll give you the information you need to have access to your locker every day of the festival. They’ll give you a combination and locker number. They’re secure, you’ll have unlimited access while the festival is open and you can leave things in it from Friday evening when you arrive until you walk out of the festival on Monday morning. If you forget the number or combination they have people there that can help you.

Here’s four reasons to rent a locker:

1. Bring in sealed packages of gum and chap stick on Friday night and store them for the weekend. ProTip #82 was about chap stick and ProTip #70 was about three sealed packs of gum and a locker is a perfect place to store them. You won’t have to try and remember them every night leaving your hotel room or worry about them still being sealed in a package as you go through security.

2. Charge your cell phone or digital camera! ProTip #75 talked about not expecting cell phone service but it will likely work and you’ll want to use it for taking pictures and videos. The smart thing to do is to make sure your phone is fully charged before you get on the shuttle bus but you’ll also be using your phone on the bus and waiting in line. Your battery will probably drain. Once you’re to the venue head to the locker, plug your phone in, charge for a bit and go back and get it.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The lockers can ONLY CHARGE ONE PHONE AT A TIME! I’ve updated the protip and it’s important to note this because I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned anywhere before. This is a good thing to keep in mind so you don’t think you’ll be able to plug in your groups phones all at once.

3. Las Vegas is hot and it’ll be warm at night but if you’re the type that easily gets a chill from the wind or your costume will have you half naked you may want to bring in a sweatshirt or a pair of pants. A locker is the perfect place to store these things so they aren’t weighing you down as you wander and party.

4.Lighten your load as the night goes on by shedding gear into the locker. You may think it’s a great idea to bring a lot of stuff with you but once you’re sick of it all you can go and empty it into your locker and pick it up in the morning. This could be parts of your costume. Fluffies. Tutu’s. Back packs. Water bottles. etc.

One bit of caution – if you’re sharing your locker with others make sure that you trust them if valuables will be stored. The last thing you want to do is have 10 different people sharing a locker for it’s charging capabilities and then your phone goes missing or someone else unplugs yours to plug in theirs and no one knows what happened.

Split a locker with two or three people and it’s very little money for the convenience. Here’s some prices so you know what to expect:

EDC Vegas 2012 the lockers were $70 for the weekend and $25 per day. This year in 2013 they are only $20 a day or $50 for the weekend.

Three day EDC Chicago 2013 in May they are $50 for all three days or $20 per day.

Two day EDC NY 2013 they are $35 for the weekend or $20 per day.

Be prepared for the extra cost and rent one now, you’ll find it to be worth it!
