EDC Vegas ProTip #48 Be Prepared for Cigarette Smoke

Once upon a time it used to be legal to smoke cigarette’s inside of every tavern, bar, club, rave and even restaurant and it was horrible whether you smoked or not. You’d get burned by people waving cigarette’s all over the place in a wasted stupor and you’d go home smelling like a chimney and you’d smell it again in the morning when you woke up. We survived those days but in hindsight those days were really disgusting.

Thankfully those days are finally over as most states have statewide smoking bans on smoking in public places. Well, except for a lot of places in Nevada. You’re allowed to smoke without limitation in areas within casinos where minors are already prohibited, stand-alone bars that do not serve food, strip clubs and brothels. The law also allows smoking in taverns that serve alcohol and food as long as patrons under 21 are not allowed in.

With that warning, be prepared for the cigarette smoke around Las Vegas if you’re not a smoker. At the festival itself there weren’t any issues because it’s outdoors. The worst that can happen is you’ll be down wind and at that point just move a few feet away. When you’re wandering around the Las Vegas casino’s though there’s nothing you can really do about it except spend little time in the area’s where it’s the worst.

I wasn’t expecting the smoke and the smell when I was in Las Vegas for my first time which is why this protip is titled to just be prepared. It was nothing like the old days of spending hours inside of a smokey club but it’s noticeable.

About the ProTips: I’ve been counting down the days until Electric Daisy Carnival with a tip a day until the day of the festival. There’ll be more to come after this one and you can view ALL of them here.
