EDC Vegas ProTip #43 Take Pictures But Don’t Be a Photographer

“Small Moments Like These” by Above & Beyond is a wonderful song and the video captures a lot of those small moments that make up life and experiences. When you think back to the small moments in your life you probably didn’t have a camera or cell phone in your hand for all of them. We all want to record videos of our favorite songs and take pictures of our favorite dj’s, the festival, our friends and even ourselves but don’t try and be a professional photographer.

We are all going to take hundreds of pictures and and who knows how many videos, that’s a given. A lot of the videos will have the bass drowning out the music and it’ll be too dark to see anything. Half the pictures will be blurry as well and you’ll have to delete them. That’s normal.

The protip is to not be so focused on trying to get that perfect shot and perfect video that you’ll let the small moments slip you by. That is unless you really are a professional photographer of course and it’s your job.

Put the electronics away. Look around. Laugh. Smile. Dance. Get lost in the music. There will be more Electric Daisy Carnival’s but this one will never be repeated ever again. There’ll be a lot of other people taking pictures and recording videos too that you’ll see later on and it’ll bring you back to that time you were having a moment and you’ll smile and love it.

I hate that picture from the 60’s and 70’s with no phones being compared to today with everyone with phones because if these things would’ve existed back then they would’ve done the same thing.

Capture your trip but don’t focus on trying to create a documentary!

About the ProTips: I’ve been counting down the days until Electric Daisy Carnival with a tip a day until the day of the festival. There’ll be more to come after this one and you can view ALL of them here.
