You’re going to one of the biggest festivals in the world along with 115,000 other people a night and one of the things that can happen is that you’ll get separated from your friends. It can be very easy to stick together but it can also be easy to end up losing everyone and if you do get split up make sure you have a plan. This may sound like a big deal but it’s nothing more than a conversation that’ll take a few minutes between everyone so you’re all on the same page.
Assuming you’re all hanging out at the same stage the best thing you can do is to pick a spot and stay there. This is what my group did last year and it worked out well. There’ll be times in the night someone needs to go to the bathroom, get some water, food or whatever else. You don’t need to all go off at the same time while others are dancing away to some music. Tap someone on the shoulder and say you’ll be right back and ask them to stay put.
Depending how many people are in your group and the state of mind of others it could be a great idea to have a buddy system and go off in pairs because it can be very easy to get distracted by bright lights and be lost for the night.
The first thing you’ll want to keep in mind if you can’t find others is to not panic. You’re with another 114,999 people that are out there having fun and ready to have fun with you. Send a text message to someone if cell phone service works and try to pick a place to meet. An easy place try and meet is the sound booth at any stage or a water refill station.
The quick conversation you’ll want to have with others you are with is what to do if you can’t find each other. Do you set a meeting point and wait there until everyone else shows up or do you just go on your way partying and see others back at the hotel? Setting a meeting pointing and waiting is probably the worst choice because it means you could end up missing a big part of a night. The best thing to do is just continue having fun and let fate run its course and either run into them, make new friends or just dance the night away and share stories back at the hotel.
Chances are low you’ll get separated but it’s possible and just make sure that everyone is on the same page if it does. Some people can go off wandering and party the night away having fun but another person off their rocker could result in a night from hell. Have the quick two to three minute conversation before you get into the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and be prepared.
