The California Supreme Court has dismissed the pending civil lawsuit against Pasquale Rotella and Reza Gerami stating that the Coliseum Commission failed to show that the two had deprived the stadium of money from raves held there. This ruling has Rotella half way through clearing his name completely in the claims made against him by the LA Coliseum.
The claims were originally thrown out by the courts in July and the LA Coliseum had the option to amend it’s claims. The failure to do so has resulted in the civil case being dismissed.
This dismissal also clears Insomniac and Go Ventures in the civil claims.
Insomniac’s attorney, Gary Jay Kaufman, has issued the following statement:
We have maintained from day one that the Coliseum’s meritless lawsuit was ill-conceived, politically motivated and publicity driven. We are very pleased that the Court recognized that Insomniac and Mr. Rotella’s business with the Coliseum was lawful and transparent.
With this civil suit behind them, Insomniac can now focus on doing what they do best — putting on the world’s greatest electronic dance music festivals.
The last step for Pasquale Rotella is to clear his name against the criminal charges for allegedly diverting $2.5 million in funds from the LA Coliseum and into the pockets of city officials. The next date to watch is September 18, 2013 when a hearing is scheduled for arguments to dismiss those claims as well.
It all started as what seemed like a war by the LA Times waged against Insomniac and other promoters and as time goes on it appears that they are losing.
