Paul Oakenfold Presents Psy-Trance at ADE

When someone mentions the word trance and asks for a popular name one of the first that should pop into your head is Paul Oakenfold. At the 2013 Amsterdam Dance Event he will be hosting a night of psy-trance under the Perfecto Fluoro name featuring Astrix, John Askew, John ’00’ Fleming, Jordan Suckley, Neelix, Simon Patterson and many more (full lineup below). Psy-trance has been around for a long time but seems to be growing in popularity and Oakenfold will showcase it on October 16, 2013.

Here’s a few mixes to give you a preview of some of the artists:

If an Oakenfold hosted psy-trance event comes as a surprise it really shouldn’t be. Oakenfold’s history with trance dates back over 20 years and really took off his Radio 1 Essential Mixes in 1994 that featured Goa. In 1997 he released Global Underground Oslo CD2 with more Goa. The 1998 Tranceport album which is considered one of the best trance mixes ever released. He reached a whole new level of popularity in 1999 with his Essential Mix world tour that featured 12 amazing trance mixes from around the world. None of that is taking into consideration his individual productions, remixes and album releases. Much of his career has focused on what many would consider the more commercial side of trance but Oakenfold is still connected to the roots of it all.

The Amsterdam Dance Event takes place next month in Amsterdam and is one of the largest events in the world of its kind. It could be considered the European equivalent of Miami Music Week in the United States but on a much larger scale. A more massive scale is a better way to describe it. ADE will feature over 300 events in 80 clubs with over 2,000 artists. Check out the full 2013 program.
