The electronic super group Destroid featuring Excision, Downlink and KJ Sawka was set to kick off a three city tour in Rochester, Philadelphia and New York City but things hit a snag on Tuesday night when word spread that the Rochester, NY gig had been cancelled. Must Die was also set to join them on tour. Locally word started to spread that it was due to low ticket sales. Excision took to Twitter and Facebook claiming that the promoter, Socialaire Group, was not in communication with them at all and made it sound like they were blindsided by the cancellation.
Update: The event has been moved an hour down the thruway to the Town Ballroom in Buffalo, NY. Tickets are available and only $20, $10 cheaper than the Rochester event. Excision stated in Twitter that over 1,000 tickets had been sold for the event. When one promoter fails, another steps in!
Sources have stated there was attempts at communication but the booking agency has been unresponsive with Excision being out of the loop. We reached out to the promoter for a comment and they said they may issue one in the morning.
Excision posted on his Facebook page stating, “This show has more tickets sold than the Philly show. That show is happening and is going to be great. We did not have any say in this cancellation whatsoever. They didn’t even tell us a thing until after they had posted it on Facebook. Hell they were promoting the show a few hours ago! They can blame us all they want, we won’t be working with such unprofessional promoters again. We care about our fans and will come back to you tomorrow hopefully with something that could be considered good news. thanks for your patience!”
The event was to be held at the Main Street Armory in Rochester, a large venue that has hosted events in the past from Bassnectar to Avicii to Zedd and many more. Event cancellations have become rare these days with the popularity of electronic music and are often tied to illness or recent drug related incidents where there’s fear by promoters or local officials but rarely ticket sales that is being reported here.
