The History of Dance Music at Coachella

Tickets for Coachella 2015 go on sale today and the festival is more popular than ever after a massive two weekends for the 2014 festival. Coachella reached a new high in 2014 with the massive Sahara Tent packed every night for both weekends and also with Calvin Harris attracting the second biggest main stage crowd in its history, second only to Dr. Dre and the Tupac hologram.

Dance music has always been a part of Coachella, this isn’t anything new. Its first year in 1999 had just about every DJ that was popular at the time as the rave scene exploded in the United States. It wasn’t to the point that dance music is now in 2014 but it was the year the word rave was more popular than ever before and is often considered the year that it left the underground for good.
