Driving from St. Paul to Somerset took roughly 45 minutes, we parked at the liquor store across the street and headed to the venue. After getting our credentials and getting thru security, we started our day off with Haywyre at the Big Top at 4:30, headed up to the Grove for RBTS Win, and then back down the hill to Catch Trippy Turtle. I had the awesome opportunity to interview the members of RBTS Win so I sat down with them during the end of Trippy Turtle to chat!

Heading towards the main stage for Keys N Krates, we swung by the Meadow to see the end of Badnotbadgood and Ghostface Killah. I decided to not kill my feet on the first day, so I passed on Odesza who were playing back down at the Grove. Earl Sweatshirt was playing at the same time so we checked out his set. He sounded fantastic but it was obvious that the crowd wasn’t super into the set. One thing I noticed was that the entire front few rows of people looked clearly uninterested and were all decked out in Bassnectar gear.

Bassnectar was the headliner, and he did not disappoint me in the slightest. His set was awesome and brought a great close to the evening. One of my favorite things about Summer Set Music Festival is the on-site after party that happens on Friday and Saturday. Friday’s lineup was Haywyre and GRiZ, and they both killed it with some amazing performances. We trekked it back to our car and headed back to the apartment I was staying at, looking forward to Saturday’s festivities!
