On Saturday I made sure to arrive early enough at the NOS Event Center while the sun was still up so that I could check out Escape Psycho Circus attraction which was inspired by American Horror Story. I was able to catch a glimpse of some of the nightmarish freaks, contortionists, and unusual characters as they wandered the circus grounds complete with a big top circus tent, burlesque shows, fortune tellers, merry-go-round and ferris wheel. The performers never dropped out of character even as they were being swarmed by festival goers (aka “headliners”) to pose for photos. After I left the circus grounds I wandered around the lagoon for at least another hour seeing how many other characters I could find mingling with the crowd. The clown in the row-boat was definitely made for a lot of laughs as he yelled out jokes on a megaphone to some of the passing “headliners”. Later throughout the night I spotted many of these same performers dancing on stages or in the area in front of the stage during many of the DJ sets.
