Life April 22 2000 Toronto featuring Eminem

As I write this in the middle of the year 2013 there’s a lot of people who complain about the supposed explosion and commercialization of the scene but let’s take a look back at the first massive rave scene boom in the year 2000 at this event. The event was massive being held at the Better Living Centre and featured Eminem, one of the biggest names in hip-hop (using that term loosely) at the time. It also featured some of the biggest names in drum n bass, breaks, house and even some techno music.

There was a massive uproar at the time for an event like this featuring Eminem but also for the blatant drug references on the flyer. This was a flyer that was at the attention of the City Council in Toronto after a death at a rave at the end of 1999. The city of Toronto had launched a war on raves and the flying pills and the “how we roll” description on one of the last pages of the flyer was just asking for unwanted attention.

How was the event? If you went please share a review. I stayed away and everyone else I know stayed away from it even though the drum and bass lineup was amazing.
