2014 ProTip #24: Make Smart Decisions Before a Festival

Every year before any festival whether it’s EDC, Ultra, Coachella, Bonnaroo or any other festival there’s often stories about someone getting into some sort of trouble or problems in the weeks before and they aren’t able to go. It could be spending too much money going out in the weeks prior and going broke or going as far as getting arrested.

We should all be making smart decisions all the time but let’s be honest, we’re all human and sometimes having fun gets the better of us. A majority of people buy festival tickets six months ahead of time and plane tickets along with hotel reservations around the same time, do you really want half of a years excitement to disappear in an instant?

Leave your ticket at home, don’t take it out and about showing it off and risk losing it and having to wait in a long will call line for a replacement.

Take the money you’ve been saving for your vacation and set it aside in a safe place or even bank account separate from one that you use often to avoid any overdrafts from taking everything.

Use a designated driver or take a cab if you’re going out somewhere.

Keep your license, passport, debit cards and credit cards that you often use by your side at all times. Trying to replace a license or card at the last-minute could be tough and you won’t be able to get into the festival without a valid ID.

Be cautious about going out and doing some intense activity that could result in broken bones and keep you off of your feet.

And for the last tip, a friend’s father once said, “only break one law at a time.” We shouldn’t be breaking any laws but it’s something to often think about.
