The A State of Trance closing party at Privilege in Ibiza has been canceled due to what they are saying was a terrible accident. A Spanish web site now has more information about what had happened.

From (translated via Google):

An elevator has overturned this afternoon in the Privilege nightclub in Sant Rafel, and the worker who was on top of the security booth, about seven or eight meters have been drilled with an iron chest during the fall. He apparently entered the breastbone and may have affected the lung as a result of the injury, although no official medical report.

Once medical services have stabilized the injured, firefighters have had to lose a height of just over a meter which had been suspended the elevator with the rugged inside the cabin. As he fell, the hydraulic machine like those used for painting and repairing walls, has hit a corner of the stage they were decorating and preparing for the party on Monday.

By the time the wedges unknown why has turned the elevator, which had one wheel in a hole in the ground inside the nightclub.

The term elevator likely refers to a scissor type lift on wheels to reach higher in the air, not an elevator that’d take you up and down 30 floors.

We can certainly understand why the night was cancelled. Our thoughts are with those involved.

The stage hands, roadies, crew members, temporary help, etc., whatever the title is for those who put the effort into setting up massive stages for us are just as part of our families. We may not know who they are and may never see them but without them the stages wouldn’t be as massive as they are.

Scheduled to appear at the closing party was Armin van Buuren, New World Punx (Markus Schulz & Ferry Corsten), W&W and Cosmic Gate.
