Escape Psycho Circus 2015: My Favorite Moments

The NOS Events Center transformed into a devilish and chilling atmosphere for Insomniac’s Escape: Psycho Circus during the Halloween weekend. The 2-day festival was by far one of the best celebrations in the SoCal area, with over 90,000 attendees and a lineup of 70+ of the best DJs in the biz. Here are some of my personal favorite moments from the event.

Eric Prydz Laser Show

It goes without saying that Prydz ended as one of the favored performances of the night. To top it off, his set delivered an epic laser show to complete his hypnotizing track mix.

Meeting Link from Legend of Zelda, amongst many other characters

Us Nintendo gamers know the saying all too well – “Hey, Listen!” – and this Headliner definitely grabbed our attention by incorporating her adorable Link costume and A&B totem.

Insomniac goers are known to have some of the most outlandish rave attire, but nothing tops the Halloween inspiration that Escape brought. These Headliners designed and created their costumes from scratch, painting and sanding for hours on end.

Trance Family Unites

Escape was host to some of the best names in the trance genre, such as Paul van Dyk, Andrew Bayer, and Markus Schulz. Naturally, trance lovers united from across California to share the experience together. There’s something unique about the universal love of trance music that develops new found friendships, thus the birth of the term “trance family”.

Century Wheel

If you needed a break from dancing, the Century Wheel was the perfect way to relax for a few minutes and enjoy an amazing view of the venue.

Interacting with the Performers

The performers never broke character and were an amazing bonus to the entire show. The burlesque dancers were a new addition to this year and were definitely a favorite.

Closing Friday night with Paul van Dyk

Paul van Dyk, trance legend, paved the way for the EDM genre as we know it. He opened with the song that is essentially responsible for my trance addition, “For An Angel”, instantly captivating the audience. His stage presence was full of energy and his track list gave me goosebumps and teary eyes. He flawlessly closed out day 1 of Escape.
