I’m known for loving trance but drum and bass isn’t all that bad. When I first started getting into electronic music a long time ago I often couldn’t stand dnb and jungle music. In a way I hated it. It annoyed the crap out of me and it didn’t seem to make any sense. That all changed the first time I heard Marcus at a Hullabaloo in Toronto in 1999 and then many more after that. It was loud. It was different. It was flawless.
When Marcus Visionary was scheduled to be in Rochester I had to drag myself out to go see him. Dj Flex brought him for the the kickoff to La Selva at A-Pub Live and I recorded these videos below of his set. The times aren’t what they used to be in terms of people packing a dance floor but it was a friendly crowd and everyone there close to the front enjoying the tunes. A-Pub Live is a great spot on East Ave for the music and hopefully it’ll pick up some speed. It’s dark, it’s loud and there’s room to dance.
