Armin van Buuren Introduces the Darker Side of Trance on ASOT 666

Armin van Buuren reached another milestone this week with episode number 666 of A State of Trance, his weekly radio show that’s listened to by millions around the world every Thursday. He could have just treated it like any other episode with the popular tracks of the week along with his favorites but thanks to the number he went towards the darker side of trance.

I used the word introduces the darker side of trance because it’s a side of trance that a lot of people aren’t familiar with but now they are. Die hard trance addicts already know about names like Simon Patterson, Jordan Suckley, John Askew, Coming Soon and Astrix but there’s also a lot of people who only listen to A State of Trance and don’t venture beyond it. Now they probably will and that’s ok. Most fans of dance music explore deeper into genres but not everyone does until they’re introduced like this.

The Who’s Afraid of 138 has risen in popularity as people were introduced to it, requested it and he made it a brand name. Thanks to Ultra a lot of people became fans after witnessing the Gaia set and realizing trance goes beyond “This is What it Feels Like”. And now Armin introduced the darker evil side of trance opening a lot of ears to new names they might have never heard of before.

Can we expect more dark and evil trance sets like this from Armin? Probably not but he proved yet again why he’s one of the best in the world.
