EDC Vegas ProTip #74 Educate Yourself and Know that Less is More

This tip comes from the days that I used to be involved with Dancesafe and harm reduction in the rave scene. It’s pretty simple, educated party goers are safer party goers. The world isn’t stupid when it comes to what people do at any type of music festival and just ignoring those things does not help anything.

The phrase less is more makes perfect sense when you think about it. The more you do anything and the more you use anything the less you’ll feel feel the special effects over time. Think about it for a minute. How high is your tolerance for something? How much do you have to do or drink before you feel the desired effects? It’s probably different than when you first started.

All of this is based on harm reduction. It’s not about just saying no. Here’s a way Dancesafe describes themselves:

We do not try to tell people to not use drugs. There are many, many, many organizations out there doing that. We are targeting those who choose to use anyway, or are thinking of using anyway. Those who Just Say Maybe.

Yes, it’s about the music and the friends and the experiences but no one is stupid. Simply put, educate yourself and know that less can be more! Be safe.

There’s two links that you should also read associated with this tip:

Bassnectar: Health & Safety & the President of Dancesafe responding here.

Spend more time on Dancesafe.org and educate yourself! Even if you aren’t going to be putting anything in your body it’s great to know what your friends are up to and will be able to help them out if needed.
